Blowing in the Wind

Last year, wind provided 34% of Ireland's power and cut spending on gas by €2bn. During that year our reliance on wind climbed 4% to 34%.


On Tuesday, 8 March 2022, the combination of high winds and soaring gas prices meant the we avoided spending €43m on gas thanks to wind generation of power.


Wind Energy Ireland confirmed that the island's wind farms provided 34% of the country's electricity in 2022.
